Advice: Apply Early To Your "Safety" School

Here's a piece of college application advice: I would advise every senior to apply to one safety school that will give them an early decision-nonbinding, of course- for the purposes of giving your self-confidence a boost while you wait for those "reach" schools to respond.
My son has applied almost entirely to competitive schools that will release their decisions in April, and his safety school won't give him a decision for a few months either. So sadly he is watching the acceptances come in from other schools for his friends while he has to wait until March or April to hear from all of the schools, something he and I never thought about. Just makes the waiting that much harder!
